The IESL Student Chapter of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka had organized A Panel Discussion on “Sustainable Development Goals and Contribution of Engineers” And a painting competition titled “Engineering the Green Future” in the occasion of World Engineering Day 4th March 2020 at Engineering Faculty Auditorium.
The panel discussion was mostly highlighted and the IESL
Student Chapter has invited Eng.Z.M.Hairu, Chairman,Hairu Group of Companies,
Sri Lanka, Eng. A.L.M.Nizar, Project Director, Road Development Authority, and
Eng.(Dr.) S.M. Junaideen, Dean Faculty of Engineering, South Eastern University
of Srilanka.
All the lecturers, Students and Engineers of IESL Eastern
Chapter participated in this discussion and the session continued as the
lecturers, engineers and students interactively participated in this
discussion. The discussion title was on “Sustainable development goals” which
is also the theme of the World Engineering Day.
Message from Dr.SM Junaideen, Dean, Faculty of Engineering,
South Eastern University of Sri Lanka:
“We, Engineers play a key role in achieving the sustainable
development goals of United Nations. Realizing the key roles of Engineers,4th
March 2020 is declared as World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. I
wish all the engineering professionals, scholars, and students, successful
years ahead creating a better future for the world”
Message from Eng. ALM Saja, IESL Student Chapter Liaison Officer:
“Engineering is at the heart of our modern world, and it
will shape the future. All seventeen sustainable development goals have
connections directly or indirectly with engineering to develop practical
solutions for world’s emerging problems. If you want to change the world, you
become an engineer.”
Message from Sachith Pasindu, IESL Student Chapter Chairman:
“Modern world’s future depends on technology, but mother
earth’s future should be greener than today to living beans to survive.
Engineers are the governing hands of technology so Engineers have the
responsibility to take initiatives to ensure world’s future before it gets late.”
