YMS BLOG GIVES AWAY CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION FOR THE BEST ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

IESL YMS blog was initiated recently, with the intention of providing a worthy space for the young engineers to share their creativity, innovative thinking, knowledge and ideas within the community. Currently, we are receiving many number of articles from all the university chapters and our team is very enthusiastically participating in the process of evaluating, editing and publishing them.

Previous day, two certificates were issued by us, as an appreciation for the "Best Article of the week";

• To Ms. Relishiya Tenaransz of Faculty of Engineering, USJ for the week starting from 23rd March to 29th March, 2020. [Article : Social Engineering]

• To Mr. Shashila Yashoda Warnasuriya of Faculty of Engineering, UOJ for the week starting from 30th March to 05th April, 2020. [Article : Introduction to Smart Building]

During these hard times, where Covid-19 has drastically displaced our lifestyles, it was decided to offer the certificates in a way that depicts the safety measures, so as to encourage the practice of "Social distancing".

YMS MEET THE ENGINEER

13th March 2020

Young Members section of IESL, is dedicated to enhance the skills of its student members by motivating the members and to provide them exposure to experienced engineers who are working in the field.

Third year women engineering undergraduates of University of Sri Jayewardenepura , were fortunate to experience such an opportunity by taking part in "Meet the engineer" session of YMS, recently.

The session was held parallel to the Women Engineers' Day at IESL, with the presence of Eng. Zahra Marzook, IET Young Woman Engineer of the year 2019 and Eng.Nadeera Sugandi, Assistant Secretary of YMS.

Eng. Zahra inspired the gathering by sharing her personal experience in the industry with the participants. She emphasized the importance of developing communication skills, personality and the confidence to ' Speak Up'. 

Engineering is all about implementing knowledge in creative ways to face challenges, which makes the engineering students standout from the rest of the student community. IESL YMS is dedicated to nurture these budding engineers to equip them with the necessary professional competencies.

World Engineering Day Celebration at Faculty of Engineering, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka

The IESL Student Chapter of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka had organized A Panel Discussion on “Sustainable Development Goals and Contribution of Engineers” And a painting competition titled “Engineering the Green Future” in the occasion of World Engineering Day 4^th March 2020 at Engineering Faculty Auditorium.

The panel discussion was mostly highlighted and the IESL Student Chapter has invited Eng.Z.M.Hairu, Chairman,Hairu Group of Companies, Sri Lanka, Eng. A.L.M.Nizar, Project Director, Road Development Authority, and Eng.(Dr.) S.M. Junaideen, Dean Faculty of Engineering, South Eastern University of Srilanka.

All the lecturers, Students and Engineers of IESL Eastern Chapter participated in this discussion and the session continued as the lecturers, engineers and students interactively participated in this discussion. The discussion title was on “Sustainable development goals” which is also the theme of the World Engineering Day.

“Modern world’s future depends on technology, but mother earth’s future should be greener than today to living beans to survive. Engineers are the governing hands of technology so Engineers have the responsibility to take initiatives to ensure world’s future before it gets late.”
